Build confidence, skill, and safety through hands-on firearm education. At Cohutta Pines, we partner with certified USCCA instructors to offer professional training designed for every experience level. Our quarterly rotating courses focus on practical knowledge, responsible handling, and real-world preparedness.
Quarterly Schedule
Courses are held quarterly and taught by USCCA Official Partners at Cohutta Pines. Each rotation offers a new opportunity to train with certified professionals and strengthen your confidence, safety, and skill. Space is limited—early registration is recommended.
Handgun Essentials Course
A welcoming, full-day handgun course that teaches safe, practical firearm knowledge for beginners and experienced shooters alike. Through classroom instruction, hands-on training and extensive range time, you’ll build solid safety habits, learn handgun anatomy and handling, and leave confident in foundational — and advancing — shooting skills, all in a small, supportive class environment.
Marksmanship Essentials Course
Marksmanship Essentials is a full-day, range-focused course designed to sharpen accuracy, consistency, and control for shooters of all levels. Through guided live-fire drills and expert instruction, students build confidence and precision with every shot.
Rapid Deployment Course
Beyond the Basics: Rapid Deployment is an intensive, all-day pistol course for experienced shooters focused on safe, fast, and accurate firearm deployment from concealed carry positions.
Dr. Jimmy Turner
Dr. Jimmy, Director of Training and Lead Instructor at Cohutta Pines, is a Marine Corps veteran dedicated to empowering individuals with the knowledge and confidence to protect their life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Drawing inspiration from the Declaration of Independence, his teaching emphasizes awareness, prevention, and a survivor’s mindset. With decades of military and civilian defensive training experience, he holds numerous instructor certifications across firearms, self-defense, and emergency response. Deeply committed to community service, Dr. Jimmy volunteers his time and regularly offers free workshops to help others stay safe. A lifelong resident of the Southeast, he proudly calls Tennessee and Northwest Georgia home with his wife, sons, and grandson.
Monthly Matches & Leagues
Test your skills, sharpen your aim, and connect with the Cohutta Pines shooting community. Each month, we host sanctioned matches designed to challenge shooters of every level—from precision marksmen to defensive shooters honing real-world tactics.
NRL22 Precision Rimfire Match
Open to both the general public and club members, NRL22 Matches offer a welcoming environment to practice precision rifle shooting. No NRL22 membership required—just register, show up, and compete.
Defensive Pistol League
The Cohutta Pines Defensive Pistol League provides a safe, supportive environment and guided practice opportunities through which responsible citizens can develop and refine relevant and practical defensive handgun skills.
A Girl & A Gun
A Girl & A Gun provides a welcoming, empowering environment where women of all experience levels can build confidence, develop firearms skills, and enjoy camaraderie through guided training, competition, and community at partner ranges across the nation.
Event Center
The Cohutta Pines Event Center is where knowledge, preparedness, and community come together. Our versatile facility hosts seminars and hands-on classes covering topics like wilderness and emergency first aid, disaster readiness, personal safety and church security training.
Designed for both indoor comfort and outdoor practicality, the Event Center provides a welcoming environment for learning, collaboration, and building the skills that keep our community strong and self-reliant.

Tucked inside the Chattahoochee National Forest and overlooking the rugged beauty of the Cohutta Wilderness, Cohutta Pines is more than a shooting range—it’s a destination for outdoor adventure and connection. Here, shooters, campers, and outdoor enthusiasts alike can train, relax, and experience the best of North Georgia.
With four ranges stretching from 15 to 100 yards, nationally recognized instructors, and peaceful surroundings perfect for RVs or camping stays, Cohutta Pines is where education, recreation, and the outdoors come together.
Archery Range
Cohutta Pines has recently opened our newest addition to our facility, the Archery Range. The range is 50 yards in length, features two shooting platforms, with each platform having its own targets. Targets are spaced every 10 yards for you to practice at various distances.
